Wireless Condition Monitoring System for Industrial Machinery

At Fletcher Moorland we understand the value of implementing Condition Monitoring Systems, but what are they?

Well, let’s keep it simple. They’re a live health check of your machinery!

Utilising a variety of sensors including, vibration and temperature. These sensors transmit useful information to a management system, which in turn will provide that information to maintenance engineers. They’re a live alert system, that will help prevent machine downtime and allow you to develop a planned maintenance schedule.

Our Meerkat Condition Monitoring system is a wireless industrial condition monitoring system designed to help maintenance teams detect developing faults before they become costly breakdowns. By continuously monitoring vibration, temperature and machine health, Meerkat provides real-time alerts that allow maintenance engineers to schedule repairs before equipment fails.

Suitable for electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, fans and many other rotating assets, Meerkat enables predictive maintenance without expensive infrastructure or complex installation.

Whether you're looking to reduce downtime, improve reliability or extend asset life, Meerkat gives your maintenance team the information needed to make data-driven decisions.

Benefits to using a Condition Monitoring System?

Are there benefits to using a condition monitoring system?

Simple answer: YES!

Condition Monitoring Systems like our own Meerkat quite simply, save time and money. They allow for safer operation of plants and machinery, reducing the amount of manual monitoring and intervention to ensure equipment is running within designated safety parameters.

Having the information at your finger tips on which element, on which machine is showing signs of wear or tear or a potential defect. Means your maintenance team can tackle the equipment with immediate or emerging issues, whilst also being able to manage scheduled maintenance with a diminished risk of production downtime.

This has seen the Meerkat Condition Monitoring System utilised in industries including:

  • Rail
  • Renewables
  • Aggregates
  • Facilities Management
  • Warehousing & Distribution
  • Logistics
  • Food & Beverage Production
  • Vehicle Manufacturing
  • Hospitality
  • General Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Theme Parks

If you have equipment, that has elements that move or generate temperature, like the rotor in a power motor, then it is likely there’s a monitoring system for them.

Wouldn’t it be handy to know in a heatwave (as few of those as the UK gets) that your air-conditioning units aren’t about to shut down, or that heading into a period of increased activity your locomotives generators are performance ready.

Meerkat | Fletcher Moorland's Online Condition Monitoring System

    Image

Meerkat is Fletcher Moorland's wireless online condition monitoring system, designed to help maintenance teams detect developing machine faults before they become costly failures. By continuously monitoring the condition of your critical assets, Meerkat provides real-time insight into machine health, allowing maintenance to be planned rather than reacting to unexpected breakdowns.

Suitable for both new and existing machinery, Meerkat can be retrofitted to motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, conveyors and other rotating equipment with minimal disruption. Once installed, the system operates continuously, giving you 24/7 visibility of your plant's performance through a secure cloud-based platform.

Whether you're monitoring a single critical asset or an entire production facility, Meerkat provides a scalable, reliable solution that helps improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime and support a proactive maintenance strategy.

    Image

Meerkat uses wireless sensors to continuously measure machine vibration and temperature, two of the earliest indicators of developing mechanical problems. The sensors are installed directly onto your equipment and securely transmit data to the Meerkat platform, where it is analysed around the clock.

As the system learns your equipment's normal operating conditions, customised alarm thresholds can be configured to suit each asset. If vibration or temperature moves outside these predetermined limits, Meerkat immediately notifies your maintenance team, allowing investigations to begin before a minor issue develops into an unexpected failure.

With real-time dashboards, historical trend data and automated alerts, maintenance teams can make informed decisions based on live equipment condition rather than fixed maintenance intervals. The result is improved asset reliability, reduced maintenance costs and greater confidence in the health of your critical machinery.

Meerkat has been developed to make condition monitoring simple, effective and scalable for industrial businesses of all sizes.

    Prevent Unplanned Downtime
Identify developing faults early and schedule maintenance before equipment failure impacts production.

    Continuous 24/7 Monitoring
Your machinery is monitored around the clock, providing constant visibility of equipment condition without the need for routine manual inspections.

    Instant Maintenance Alerts
Receive immediate notifications when vibration or temperature exceeds acceptable operating limits, enabling your team to respond quickly and minimise disruption.

    Improve Safety
Reduce the need for engineers to access difficult or hazardous machinery for routine monitoring, helping create a safer maintenance environment.

    Scalable Across Your Sites
Start by monitoring your most critical assets and expand the system as your operational requirements grow. Meerkat is designed to scale from individual machines to complete production facilities.

    Retrofit Existing Equipment
Meerkat can be installed on a wide range of existing rotating equipment, making it an ideal solution for ageing plant as well as new installations.

As an acute hospital trust we have been using the “meerkat” system for a number of months now on a number of critical air handling units to provide us with a real time solution to vibration analysis and temperature monitoring. We are now able to remotely monitor plant without having multiple shutdowns to carry out individual monitoring tests. With the SMS messaging we are able to receive alerts to plant problems and be able to investigate and address any issues before we have catastrophic plant failure which could lead to closure of operating theatres etc. As this has been successful to date in reducing major breakdowns we are now looking to expand the system to the whole of the hospital site to provide further assurance to our critical plant condition.

I can honestly say after starting the deployment of this I4.0 system across my plant the information received back is impressive. No more sending engineers out to take inaccurate measurements. Precise accurate data 24/7. Fantastic team from Meerkat supporting our deployment.

As a new Maintenance Manager of an ageing plant which has not been well maintained I am in a situation where knowledge is most definitely power. Meerkat allow us to investigate problems which we were unaware we had, this gave us time to create a plan with the production team to solve it.  I have presented this system and showed the value to our CEO, he has spread the word across our world wide company as best practice, I feel we have definitely moved a large step towards our preventative Maintenance goal by installing Meerkat and will look forward to extending the system further.

      How accessible is Condition Monitoring?

      Image

Modern organisations, need modern solutions. Legacy condition monitoring systems had to be monitored from a static position. The technology just didn’t exist to allow for access on the go! Thankfully, this is no longer the case.

Meerkat, Fletcher Moorlands condition monitoring system provides secure, online reporting just as easily accessed on your phone or other mobile device as on-site systems.

Perhaps even more beneficial is, you don’t have to be actively viewing the data to know a potential risk is developing. Meerkat will send your maintenance team a notification, based upon your tolerance settings when any kind of anomaly occurs. Putting the power in your hands to intervene, before any downtime occurs. Prevention is better than cure!

      Is Condition Monitoring for You?

Condition Monitoring is becoming an increasingly common element of operational maintenance. It’s part of operating assets safely and efficiently.  It allows you to plan ahead and focus resources where the problems lye and avoid costly, unnecessary procedures.

Should you want to avoid downtime, save money and reduce risk. A condition monitoring system could be the solution you need.
