A tissue manufacturer called us as he was having problems finding a reliable repair solution for a newer generation of Siemens servo system the Sinamics S120 range. Now this system is one we have a fully operational test rig for the PSU, drives and drivecliq servo motors.
We were sent the servo drive which was a 6SL3120-1TE23-0AA1, a 30 amp single motor module. We coupled the servo drive to our test rig as this is the only way to check for correct fault diagnosis on these type of drives. We traced the fault to an I2T alarm and knew which area of the drive to check for the component faults. The drive was stripped and the fault rectified. We also carry out a full service to servo drives where all electrolytic capacitors, relays, opto-isolators and fans are replaced. We do this, as we want all our repairs to be reliable and last in service for our customers.
The drive was assembled and connected again to our test rig, the fault condition had cleared so we put the drive through a test routine with its motion controller, similar to how it would operate on site.
