Planned Downtime & Scheduled Maintenance
PLanned Maintenance during Downtime
Fletcher Moorland are planning in Christmas shutdown work with many of our customers; and have been since early July.
Planning in AC motor overhauls for quarries, DC motor overhauls for amusement parks and steel mills, Gearbox overhauls for crushers, Vacuum pump overhauls and air handling units for food manufacturing companies, really any area our electro-mechanical team are able to assist is being booked in.
Advantage Of Scheduled Electrical Maintenance
Don’t forget to schedule in planned maintenance for electrical control panels. We often find that controls, drives, HMIs etc are overlooked. Maybe because they’re not always visible and can often be out of the way with the doors shut.
There is a great deal that Fletcher Moorland can do during planned shutdowns with these things and the automation equipment inside of them that will have a positive impact on reliability.

PLan Electrical Parts Maintenance

It's worth planning in servicing of these items too when shutdowns are planned.
As with electrical rotating machinery, the automation equipment in your panels will degrade with age. Take automation drives for example, be they an inverter, servo drive or DC drive. Especially if they are over 10 years old. Electronic components will degrade, certainly electrolytic capacitors, opto-isolators, and relays. The cooling fans too, they will wear especially if the panel isn't well sealed.
Just think of failures that you've had on electronic automation equipment. Taking advantage of scheduled downtime to carry out electrical maintenance can help prevent sudden failures. Failures likely caused by electrical components failing. It’s common to  have bearings changed in an electric motor, why not get the capacitors changed in your electronics too?
Remember there is a lot that Fletcher Moorland can help with inside the panel too. Even something as simple as vacuuming out the panel. Change filters, service the cooling fans, make sure any holes are plugged, we’ve often seen that after modification over prolonged periods of time panels have been holed.
Let Fletcher Moorland give your electrical components a health check!
Check that the isolators are working, check for loose connections and potential issues and of course it’s a great time to consider implementing reliability services or adding a condition monitoring system.
