Fundraising Challenge for Dougie Mac
In 2026, as Fletcher Moorland celebrates its 80th anniversary, our team is marking the milestone in a way that reflects who we are: by coming together, pushing ourselves, and giving back.
We’re taking on an ambitious challenge, to cycle and run a combined total of 24,901 miles, the equivalent of travelling around the world, in just 80 days.
Every mile will be covered by members of the Fletcher Moorland team, united by a shared goal to raise much needed funds for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
Why we're supporting the Dougie Mac
This challenge is about supporting Dougie Mac, a charity that provides vital palliative and dementia care to people and families across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.
Dougie Mac supports individuals at some of the most difficult moments in their lives, delivering compassionate, specialist care with dignity and respect. Their work reaches thousands of people every year, but it comes at a significant cost.
It costs £56,000 every single day to keep Dougie Mac operating. More than 75% of this funding comes from charitable donations, meaning their ability to deliver care depends heavily on the generosity of supporters, fundraisers, and local businesses.
Without fundraising, Dougie Mac simply couldn’t maintain, let alone increase the high standards of quality care they’re known for.
Our Fundraising Goal
We’re starting with an initial target of £8,000, but our ambition doesn’t stop there. Our long-term goal is to raise £80,000, helping to fund essential services, equipment, and care for those who need it most.
Every pound donated helps. Every mile completed brings us closer.
Whether it’s the cost of a coffee or a larger contribution, all donations are genuinely appreciated and go directly towards supporting Dougie Mac’s incredible work.

Fletcher Moorland launched their fundraiser for Dougie Mac on Wednesday 18/03/2026 and wow, what a response we've had!
201 Miles achieved in our first day, only a mere 24,700 miles to go!

Day 6 - Update
What a phenomenal start to our fundraiser!
We're just 6 days in and have completed 1321 miles, which in terms of our around the world in 80 days challenge, sits us in Poland!
It's been a truly monumental effort by the team jumping on our exercise bikes and treadmills at all hours of the day!

Day 13 - Update
We're nearly two weeks into our fundraising for The Douglas Macmillan Hospice and we've almost hit 30% of our target! What a fantastic result!
It's all down to the commitment of our team and the support of our customers, suppliers, family and friends!
There's been some funny turns of events on the equipment, including the suspiciously green chap hopping by!

Day 28 - Update
Wow! We've managed to clock up 9253 miles! That either puts us in the o0cean or just on the eastern edge of Australia! Either way, we're powering onwards!
We have to respect the efforts of Alex Wynne in our purchasing team who has almost clocked up 1000 miles alone! He's currently on 988 and back on the bikes soon!

Day 49 - Update
We've now completed 14,812 miles around the world! Unfortunately that means we're 303 miles behind schedule!
There have been some incredible performances with 3 of our team now individually having contributed over 1000 miles each! One, Alex in our purchasing team has nearly completed 2000 miles!!
